Dear Friends and Neighbors,
We want to share an important development in Norvell Township government.
Township Supervisor Bill Sutherland announced last night that he is resigning, with his last day
expected to be April 30. In his statement, Supervisor Sutherland said he no longer feels he can
bring the full energy the role requires and believes it is time for new leadership. We thank
Supervisor Sutherland for his diligent service and work on behalf of Norvell Township.
Under township rules, the Board must appoint someone to fill the vacancy within 45 days. This
leadership change comes at a critical moment for our community, as Norvell Township faces
major decisions, including the proposed American Aggregates gravel mine near Watkins Lake
State Park and ongoing questions about township governance.
The next supervisor could play a major role in how these issues are handled. That makes it
especially important that the appointment process be open, thoughtful, and focused on the best
interests of residents.
IHCC will be watching this process closely and sharing opportunities for public engagement as
more information becomes available.
Please stay involved, stay informed, and be ready to make your voice heard. Thank you for your
continued commitment to protecting our community.
