Residents learned about the decision-making process, reviewed myths vs. facts and prepared for upcoming Township meetings. We reported 850 township petition signatures and 437 from supporters beyond the township.

80+ community members gathered in person and via Zoom to hear updates on legal strategy, expert testimony regarding particulate matter from diesel trucks, haul route concerns, fundraising, and next steps in the Township review process.

Covered the latest developments on the application, answered questions from attendees, launched the petition, and discussed ways to get involved. Residents should receive a petition by mail; others can print, sign, and return.

Highlights include an overview of the mine application and ways to oppose it, plus an inspiring talk from Peter Psarouthakis on how his community successfully fought a proposed gravel mine. They won.

The yard sign fundraising goal was met in just three days, and signs are now being printed. Ninety-one letters requesting an independent DNR study have been sent, with more encouraged. We also reviewed upcoming Township meetings and opportunities for public comment.

Our first community meeting! We reviewed the proposal, the legal standard that can justify denial, and the importance of fact-based engagement. We also outlined a coordinated letter-writing campaign requesting a DNR evaluation of potential impacts.
